Five MPs voted against the adoption of the Law on Determining the Legal Status of Illegally Constructed Buildings, and one of them was MP GordanaSiljanovska-Davkova.
Siljanovska-Davkova says that her vote “against” should not be treated as a “miracle” because she voted as a representative of part of the people and her voters, and that she votes according to her personal conviction, as should be the practice in a democratic society.
The MP reminds that she is not a member of a party, but as part of the parliamentary group of VMRO-DPMNE, even when submitting the draft law on illegal buildings, she clearly warned her colleagues that such a law is not in accordance with the law.
“It will be very interesting to see whether Macedonia’s President StevoPendarovski will sign the decree promulgating the law, i.e. whether his decision will be based on the rule of law. At the same time, I want to emphasize that the adoption of the law violates Article 9 of the Constitution, which guarantees equality of citizens on all grounds, and if you want, according to social status. This law establishes selective justice, and the fundamental value of the constitutional order is the rule of law, said Siljanovska-Davkova.
