Opposition says Skopje mayor will finance the election campaign through public procurement


Is the Universal Hall used as an institution for providing technical equipment – LED screens, sound system and lighting for the needs of Petre Shilegov and SDSM for the upcoming local elections?, asked Jelena Zhugic from VMRO-DPMNE in a statement to the media.

“On June 1, the public procurement conducted by the Universal Hall for selection of a bidder for organizing and renting technical equipment for lighting and sound events for events with a capacity of 1,500 ended; 3000; 8,000 and 20,000 people,” Zhugic said.

She pointed out that the residents of Skopje are paying for a service that they will not be able to use due to the protocols for organizing outdoor events, it will not be possible for such a large number of people to gather in one place in a pandemic.

“Health Minister Venko Filipche said a few days ago that maybe this summer the Commission for Infectious Diseases will allow events with a number of up to 1000 people, for a number higher than this, a ban would still remain and it is uncertain whether it can be abolished. Therefore, the logical question is whether for events that can be attended by a maximum of 1,000 people, if the Government approves, equipment will be invoiced for a minimum of 1,500 or 3,000 or 20,000 people?” said Zhugic.
