Health Minister Venko Filipche thanked China for helping the Government procure the large quantity of vaccines and for ensuring their prompt delivery. Filipche also highlighted the safety of the Sinovac vaccine.

He said it is an inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine given intramuscularly, in two doses in an interval of 2–4 weeks between the first and second dose. He added that the WHO recommends it to pregnant and nursing women as well as seniors when the benefits outweigh the risks.

With the 500,000 Sinovac vaccines and with the recent shipment of 100,620 doses of Pfizer vaccines through the Covax Facility, the pace of mass vaccination in the country will pick up.

The Ministry of Health announced that about 462,211 citizens registered through vakcinacija.mk will be vaccinated by July 15.

The 500,000 Covid-19 vaccines the Ministry of Health bought from the Chinese manufacturer Sinovac arrived on two planes at the Skopje International Airport on Sunday afternoon.
