More than 1,000 citizens today took part in a protest organized by the civil movement AVAJA over the murder of a young Roma man Stanislav Tomas from the Czech town of Teplice.

AVAJA leader Salija Bekir stressed at the protest that discrimination against Roma by individuals and institutions is present on a daily basis.

“Police brutality against Roma is the most visible way of functioning systemic racism in Europe. It is based on the unlimited power of police officers who see and treat every Roma person as a criminal,” said the organization.
