The Vatican demands that the illegal construction of the monument to Mother Teresa on Macedonia Square in Skopje be completed, and that the memorial house on Makedonija Street be managed by the Catholic Church. This was requested by President Stevo Pendarovski during his visit to the Vatican on May 24 this year, to mark the memory of Saints Cyril and Methodius, writes SDK.mk.

The President’s Office confirmed to SDK.mk that at the meeting with Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, certain issues related to the status and rights of Catholics in the country were raised, without specifying what was specifically requested.

Pendarovski informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the requests from the Vatican, from where a letter was sent to the Ministry of Culture, the City of Skopje and the Municipality of Centar.
