US donates equipment and technical assistance for the Kafasan – Kaftane border crossing

Mobile scanners, densitometers and cameras are part of the equipment donated by USAID to the customs administrations of North Macedonia and Albania, to facilitate trade and transport and improve cross-border cooperation between the two countries in order to establish a joint border crossing and joint border controls. Kafasan – Kaftane.

The donation in the amount of 100,000 euros, which also includes advisory assistance, was promoted today at the Kafasan border crossing by the US Ambassadors to Macedonia and Albania, Kate Marie Byrnes and Juri Kim, the representative of the Customs Administration of Macedonia, IlijaJanoski and the director of Albanian customs GentiGazeli.

Secure and efficient border and customs controls, according to Ambassador Byrnes, are necessary to facilitate trade and transport, to move goods across the border faster, and to connect local businesses with regional and global markets and supply chains.
