Orange-flavored “Jana” water withdrawn due to ethylene oxide

Due to the presence of ethylene oxide in two beverages from the brand “Jana” in Croatia, the 1.5 liter packages were withdrawn because this compound is harmful to human health.

Recently, the Croatian media revealed that it is a non-alcoholic drink “Jana vitamin orange happy” in a 1.5 liter plastic package with a validity period until January 13, 2022 and in a 0.5 liter plastic package with a validity period until January 20. 2022.

The Croatian Food Agency confirmed that these two products did not comply with European regulations on maximum levels of pesticide residues in food, and the amounts of ethylene oxide in the drink are a serious risk to the citizens’ health.
