A Mitsubishi delegation visited ESM, the government-owned electricity producing company, and its subsidiary REK Bitola in order to examine the opportunities to build a 250 MW gas plant within REK Bitola.

During the meetings ESM and REK Bitola managers, the representatives of the Japanese company expressed readiness to actively participate in the building and other installations stipulated in the plan for energy transformation in North Macedonia, i.e., implementation of green energy, ESM said in a press release.

According to the Mitsubishi officials, over the past three years, the company has invested around EUR 2 billion in the construction of gas centrals for the production of electricity. Based on this impressive data, Mitsubishi’s representatives guarantee that the gas plant of the coal-fired REK Bitola will become operational by 2026.

The delegation also met with government representatives who expressed their willingness to work alongside ESM on a project for strategic partnership with Mitsubishi, according to the press release.
