Since the base station at the Macedonian Embassy in Vienna became operational on October 20th, the Macedonian diaspora in Austria has been acquiring new passports in a fast-track procedure, which does not last more than a month.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, so far 330 Macedonian citizens have been photographed for a passport, and 200 of them have already received the new biometric passports.

According to Ambassador Nenad Kolev, with the new procedure for mobile issuance of passports, the long lines of our citizens waiting in front of the Embassy have disappeared.

“The Austrian diaspora welcomed the establishment of a base station for taking biometric passport data of citizens in the premises of the embassy in Vienna and assessed it as a real move. With this, the procedure for obtaining new passports, which are still made in Skopje, is reduced to only one month, from six months in normal conditions, to nine months at the time of COVID-19. At the same time, the huge queues of our citizens who were waiting in front of the consular section of the Embassy for travel documents have almost disappeared, “said Kolev.
