16,000 people lost their jobs due to the pandemic

Over 16,000 citizens are registered as having lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020. Bekim Murati, head of the Employment Agency, said that this is the official number of jobs lost in this period.

According to the official data of the Employment Agency, these citizens have checked out of the compulsory social insurance and remained unemployed between March 11, 2020 and December 31, 2021.

Murati added that there are over 130,000 active job seekers registered with the agency, and 54,600 more who are believed to register only to try to gain some benefits.
