Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry accuses Pendarovski of increasing tensions

The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has expressed concern over the recent actions of Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski. It points out that the actions of certain officials who express negative views in public and which are contrary to the positive climate created by the active efforts of the governments of Bulgaria and North Macedonia.

“We are once again witnessing an increase in public tensions caused by the concrete actions of the President of North Macedonia, who is trying to renew the issues that are contrary to the 2017 Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation,” reads the press release.

This comes after Friday’s meeting between Pendarovski and representatives of OMO “Ilinden” and representatives of several other citizens’ associations from the Republic of Bulgaria in the presidential villa Vodno.
