A group of sixteen Afghan citizens left Skopje International Airport for Canada this morning, for whom our country in the past provided temporary stay as part of the global humanitarian action to help the pro-democracy population in Afghanistan which is in danger of the new Taliban regime in that country.

“These refugees are employees, associates and members of their families of the international organization” Open Government Partnership “where Northern Macedonia is an official member. On two previous occasions, ten more citizens left, whose final destination is also Canada,” said government spokesperson DushkoArsovski at a press conference.

There are currently 542 Afghan citizens residing in the country, to whom, saysArsovski, the institutions are providing the necessary support and assistance.

So far, 178 civilians have left the country, to whom several countries around the world have provided permanent residence, the government spokesperson added.
