“Everything that is being discussed with Bulgaria is in the spirit of the Resolution adopted in our Parliament and in the spirit of European values,” said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski in a statement to the media after Monday’s inspection of field activities for the construction of the Krupishe-Kohcani section of the Kochani-Shtip road.
Commenting on the request made by the leader of the opposition VMRO-DPMNE Hristijan Mickoski for written guarantees from the EU and Bulgaria for the Macedonian language, identity and minority against their request for the Bulgarians in the country, Kovachevski said that the talks with Sofia are conducted in the spirit of European values and based on of preserving the dignity of the citizens of both countries.
“We have already adopted a Resolution in the Parliament, on the basis of which we have set our negotiating positions in this process. Minister Osmani has already informed about everything that is happening within the negotiations at the all-day debate of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Parliament, and after every meeting he has with his Bulgarian colleagues, he also does it in front of the citizens. Also, Prime Minister Petkov and I, in our speeches after our meetings, publish all the details that are discussed and I can assure you that everything that is discussed is in the spirit of the Resolution adopted in our Parliament and in the spirit of European values. Of course, the European Commission is involved in the whole process because at the end of the day the negotiating framework should be approved by all EU member states and based on that Macedonia should get the date for the start of the first intergovernmental conference,” said Kovachevski.
