More than 23,000 insured persons used private health insurance last year to cover the costs of examinations, interventions, treatment and other medical services. Nine insurance companies paid 3.4m euros in medical expenses covered by private health insurance.
The number of citizens who have private health insurance last year increased by 60 percent and exceeded 182,000 insured persons. Private health insurance remains the fastest growing insurance product since the onset of the health pandemic. Last year, more than 18,000 contracts for private health insurance were concluded, bringing the number of active contracts for this insurance class to 62,000, according to official data from the Insurance Supervision Agency.
Citizens personally invest in private health insurance, but also companies that pay insurance for their employees to be able to use a range of medical services at private hospitals in the country.
