More than 500 deceased pelicans have been found in Mala Prespa in the past few days, informs the Macedonian Ecological Society,
The pelicans were spotted by our partner organization PrespaNet Society for the Protection of Prespa (SPP). The cause of death of birds has been confirmed to be H5N1 bird flu. All our relevant institutions have been informed, and the virus has been confirmed in our country in a separate case. The relevant organizations are monitoring the situation and it is expected that new cases may be noticed in our country, says the MES and urges citizens to report to the company if they notice anything similar in the area.
