Macedonians are the least happy people in the Balkans

By taking the 89th place out of the 146 countries surveyed, Macedonia is by far the least happy country in the region according to the World Happiness Report, a publication of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network based on data from global surveys of people in about 150 countries.

All the former Yugoslav republics are far ahead of Macedonia, with Slovenia in 22nd place, Serbia in 43rd, Croatia in 47th, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 67th and Montenegro in 75th.

Last year, Macedonia stood even worse according to indicators of happiness, such as life expectancy, social protection, corruption and others, when it was 94th, but even then it was far behind Slovenia in 29thplace, Serbia in 48th, Croatia in 60th, BiH at 64th and Montenegro at 70th.
