Any change in the electoral system must be by consensus. It will not serve anyone if it follows the principle of outvoting or conditioning. That is an ultimatum. The Parliament must not work under an ultimatum, there must be a consensus, said Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi during a political debate show on MRTV1.
“This is not a problem in the electoral system. Why don’t the political parties come out alone and measure how much support everyone has. The problem is not in the six constituencies, the problem is in the support. One coalition, another, a third and finally in a year almost all coalitions fall apart,” Xhaferi said.
According to the Parliament Speaker, a debate should be held on the number of constituencies in order to hear the arguments and then, as he said, to be able to reach a consensus.
