The latest data show that we have no attitude towards water as a natural resource and the losses at the national level reach up to 60 percent due to poor infrastructure and lack of investment of public enterprises. Every time a tariff range is determined, the municipal councils usually choose the tariff in the structure of which the level of investment is at the lowest level and implies basic maintenance of the network, said the President of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (ERC) Marko Bislimoski, who signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of water services with colleagues from the region and the EU.

Bislimovski adds that is a problem that everyone in the region faces.

“It is necessary to explain every denar what is spent and how much investment is made in utility companies,” underlined the ERC head.
