Prices of meat and pork products will increase by 20 to 30 percent, and there will be layoffs of employees in the meat industry, if the Government does not soon meet the demands of companies to extend the tariff exemption for frozen pork meat and other raw materials intended for processing, warned the representatives of the Group of meat processors and meat industries in the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia.

“With the current customs duties, this industry is placed in an unequal position with foreign producers, primarily those from the neighborhood, but also from the EU. Finished products enter the country with 0% customs duty, and we, the domestic processors, pay 20 to 35% customs duty when importing raw materials,” said the Economic Chamber.
