President Macron’s Office: The use of “North Macedonians” was an unintentional mistake

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the Office of the France’s President Emmanuel Macron received an assurance that the use of the adjective “North Macedonians” referring to the citizens of Macedonia is an unintentional mistake.
“In addition to the regular communication with the Embassy of France in the country, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani today had a telephone conversation with the Office of President Emmanuel Macron, where he received assurances that an adverse mistake was made in using the adjective for the citizens of North Macedonia. The official position of France for full respect of the official name of the country, the citizens of North Macedonia, as well as the corresponding adjectives, in the way they are defined and accepted in the United Nations, in accordance with the Prespa Agreement,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
