The number of workers in the industry in May 2022, compared to May last year, decreased by 1.7 percent, the State Statistics Office said on Sunday.
In the period between January and May, however, compared to the first five months of 2021, the number of workers is lower by two percent.
The number of workers in the Mining and Quarrying sector in May 2022, compared to May 2021, recorded a decrease of 2.5%, in the Manufacturing Industry sector a decrease of 1.7%, and in the Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning Supply sector a decrease of 1.2 %.
According to the main industrial groups, the number of workers in the industry in May 2022, compared to May 2021, has a decrease in Energy by 5.1 % and Non-durable consumer goods by 5.5 %, while there is an increase in Intermediate products, except energy by 1.0 %, Capital products by 2.0% and Consumer durables by 2.4%.
