The first Via Ferrata, i.e. a safe route for rock climbing with aids, will be opened in the Galichica National Park on Monday.
The name of the first Via Ferrata in the Galichica National Park is “Dobroja”, a local name for the Juniperusfoedissima plant, characteristic of the higher parts of the National Park. As explained by the Patagonia Mountaineering Club, the name comes from an interesting specimen of this plant, which visitors have the opportunity to see right next to the line of the Ferrata.
The total length of the Via Ferrata is 535m, of which 145m is climbing vertical rocks, properly equipped with stairs, and the rest is for walking on exposed terrain, provided with a safety cable, in continuity along the entire length.
