The Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) has filed a public interest lawsuit against the Republic of North Macedonia, the Government, as a defendant in the proceedings due to the fact that a large number of employees in the public sector have been discriminated against by the actions or inaction of the RNM.

“The Government did not act fully in accordance with the Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Minimum Wage published in Sl. Journal no. 41/2022, which sets the minimum wage at 18,000 denars net, which is an increase of 18.4 percent. Pursuant to Article 8 of the Law, the salaries of all employees should have been adjusted to the increase in the minimum wage, said the SSM.

The SSM adds that the Government did not do this for all employees in the public sector, i.e. flat-rate and without criteria, sometimes salaries are not increased at all, and sometimes they are increased for certain categories.
