The location that is given to a foreign investor is the last serious position for the construction of a profitable hydropower plant, and it is of essential importance for the electricity system of the country. The Minister of Environment Naser Nuredini informs that the disastrous procedure for issuing a concession for the construction of HPP “Chebren”, in a public-private partnership with AD ESM, has progressed, a move that further undermines the autonomy and independence of Macedonia, said opposition party Levica.
“The location that is given to a foreign investor is the last serious position for the construction of a profitable hydropower plant and it is of essential importance for the electricity system of the country. On several occasions, the Levica political party urged for stopping this procedure and for the state to build this power facility independently, because giving this location to a foreign investor, under the guise of a public-private partnership, is equal to national betrayal,” the party’s press release reads.
