Parliament approves legal amendments that prohibit establishment of associations aimed at violent demolition of constitutional order

The Parliament of N. Macedonia on Wednesday adopted the amendments and additions to the Law on Associations and Foundations, submitted by VMRO-DPMNE, and to the Law on the Law on Political Parties, at the proposal of SDSM, after a fast-track procedure.

For the amendments to the Law on Associations and Foundations, 67 MPs voted in favor, none against and abstained, and the same number of MPs voted in favor of the Law on Political Parties, with none against and no abstentions.

The proposed changes of the two parties followed the opening of Bulgarian clubs in the country with the names “Vancho Mihailov” on April 16 in Bitola and “Tsar Boris III” on October 7 in Ohrid. According to the changes in the Law on Associations and Foundations: “The establishment of an organization is prohibited if the program, objectives, activities and its action are aimed at the violent demolition of the constitutional order of the Republic of North Macedonia, incitement and incitement to military aggression and incitement of national, racial, religious hatred or other intolerance, hatred, genocide , extermination, propagation or support, incitement and approval of fascism, Nazism, National Socialism and the Third Reich, undertaking activities related to terrorism, undertaking activities that are contrary to the Constitution or law and undertaking activities that violate the freedoms and rights of others persons”.
