Macedonia once again proved to be a capable host at the highest level of competition in the system of the European Handball Federation (EHF), flawlessly organizing its part of EURO 2022, which is also co-organized by Montenegro and Slovenia.
“I think it is unimaginable for a small country to host a European Championship alone, especially now that there are more participating national teams. Only big countries like Germany, France and maybe Spain can really achieve that. Currently, Macedonia could be the organizer of the European Championship in men’s competition as a co-host, as in this case with the women’s tournament. To be the organizer of the first preliminary stage or one group. The tournaments are already allocated until 2028, so we will see from 2030 onwards,” said the EHF President Michael Wiederer.
Germany hosts the next continental championship in 2024, Scandinavian neighbors Sweden, Norway and Denmark in 2026, and Switzerland partners Spain and Portugal for the 2028 championship.
