Ohrid must not be synonymous with expensive accommodation, cold rooms and stale breakfast, says Janevski


The director of the Agency for Support and Promotion of Tourism (APPT)LjupchoJanevski expects to close the year 2022 with about 2.8 million overnight stays and over 400 million dollars in turnover from tourism.

As he says, this year we had a great start and a good middle of the “race”, but tourism is not a 100-meter sprint, but a marathon.

Janevski is determined that there is still a lot of work to be done on Macedonian tourism.

“The perception of Ohrid in the region must not be expensive accommodation, cold rooms and stale breakfast. We have to change that very quickly. We need to be clear. We have an economic crisis, but how many hotels do we have with green stars? Have we managed to adapt to green energy? These are questions that we need to answer very quickly. I believe that we should save when we have good years, and invest in years of crisis,” stressed Janevski.
