The Government is making sure that the citizens are calm and peaceful about the price of electricity, the burden of the energy crisis will not be on the backs of the citizens. A 24-hour supply of electricity and a regular supply of heat energy will be provided until the end of the heating season in the city of Skopje, and there will be no increase in the price of heat energy, said Macedonian Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi in an interview with TV 24’s political show.
“The information that the VAT will increase to 10 percent is correct. And we must inform the citizens that 5% was a government measure aimed at dealing with the energy crisis and now, according to the new calculations, there is room to go back to 10%, without having an impact on the price of electricity for households and for small consumers. Almost all the facilities of the state are currently in operation. All that gives us space to make additional calculations as an energy team and during tomorrow we will have meetings where we will decide on the prices that ESM should offer to the universal supplier, in this case EVN Home, to electricity distribution and to MEPSO,” said Bekteshi.
