The relations between N. Macedonia and Bulgaria are currently at the rock bottom, and the initiatives to open the so-called cultural clubs in both countries. The campaign of provocations was started by Bulgaria, that is, the Bulgarian president, but the fault lies on both sides of the border. We need to show maturity and the capacity to prevent things from being like that, said Dimitar Atanasov from the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with the Ethnographic Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
“Unfortunately, I think that relations have deteriorated a lot recently, especially with the initiatives to open the so-called cultural clubs in both countries, as it turned out that they were used as a means of provocation. I think that the inclusion of the Bulgarians in the Constitution of the RNM is an absolutely pointless thing, i.e. both with and without it, Bulgaria should allow North Macedonia to join the EU,” says Atanasov
