The bakery industry started delivering white and semi-white bread at a price of MKD 33 starting from Saturday, but will also initiate legal proceedings for the recovery of damages following the government’s decision to freeze the price as of May 31 of this year.
The Government maintains that they are protecting the citizens with the decision and say that they are making calculations for a possible price freeze of other food products.
“The battle with the Government continues on a legal basis. The decisions she made on a monthly basis cause us damage of over 1.5 million euros. Due to the imposed losses, we are forced to adjust and reduce losses with certain types of bread, but also to reduce the number of employees. In the next three months, we will be looking for a way to survive, and from tomorrow we will start delivering bread to meet the citizens,” said the nead of the Milling and Bakery Industry Group, Goran Malishikj.
