With a procession of the survivors from the Museum of the City of Skopje to Monopol-Imperial Tobacco, began the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust of the Macedonian Jews, which is organized under the auspices of the Government by the Jewish community in the country and the Holocaust Fund under the motto “March 11 1943 – Never again”.
The commemoration will continue at Butel City Cemetery, where flowers will be laid in front of the monument to the deported Jews and in front of the monument to the fallen fighters in the NOB.
Tonight, a commemorative concert will be held at the National Opera and Ballet, which is expected to be addressed by Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, the Ambassador of Israel, Simona Frankel, the president of the Jewish community in the country, Pepo Levi, and the chair of the American Jewish Committee, Rabbi Andrew Baker.
