The head of the Sanctions Administration, JovicaStojanovikj, in an interview with TV 24 discussed the state of the Macedonian prisons.

He says that Macedonian prisons are overcrowded and some of the prisoners have to sleep in the corridor on a mattress.

“We have 2,100 beds in the prisons, and we have about 2,260 convicted persons. I wonder how the directors manage to accommodate people in the institution. In the Idrizovo state penitentiary there are about 40-60 people who sleep in the corridor on mattresses because there is no possibility to install new beds,” says Stojanovikj.
