Customs officers discovered and seized over 43 kilograms of gold jewelry at Skopje International Airport last night, the director of the Customs Administration Slavica Kutirov informed on Tuesday. This, as Kutirov stressed, is a record seizure of gold jewelry, which is estimated to be worth around 2.3 million euros.

“After previous knowledge and founded suspicion, a person with a Serbian travel document who arrived on the regular evening flight from Istanbul, was directed to a detailed search and examination of the luggage. At the same time, a variety of gold jewelry packed in nylon bags was discovered in his suitcase and hand luggage, including white gold jewelry, up to diamonds with attached certificates. The person previously went to a green channel and did not report the goods,” Kutirov informed.
