Orthodox Christians celebrate Palm Sunday, also known as Flower Sunday and Vrbica.
This holiday marks the last week before the beginning of Jesus’ suffering, death and Resurrection.
Palm Sunday is celebrated the day after Lazarus Saturday – the miraculous resurrection of Lazarus, who had been dead for four days, performed by Jesus Christ, on the sixth week of Great Lent, one week before Easter. It is celebrated in memory of Jesus Christ’s entry into Jerusalem, the city where he will be executed a few days later.
