Domestic grain rots while the state imports from abroad. It is about ten thousand tons which, although at a reduced price, are not being bought.
The National Federation of Farmers demanded a ban of the import of wheat, so that domestic could be sold.
“Last year and in the years before that, we requested that the purchase of wheat for commodity reserves start from the day when the harvest begins in Macedonia and that it be purchased from our producers, not from abroad. Here it is 19 denars each, and I have information that wheat was brought for 28 denars for the state commodity reserves”, says Memet Sinani, member of the Management Board of the National Federation of Farmers.
