Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski said Monday he has signed the decrees on the five laws related to the construction of Corridors 8 and 10-d, whereas all parties concerned are entitled to file an initiative over their constitutionality, including on the most contested amendments to the Law on Labor Relations.
“I made the decision to sign the decree for this law and for the other four laws after consulting with former judges of the Constitutional Court and my advisers,” said President Stevo Pendarovski.
Last Friday, I received the five laws amending and supplementing the laws related to the construction of corridors 8 and 10-d, known as the Bechtel and Enka laws.
There was a debate in society about their constitutionality. The debate has been misused to polarize our society. Regarding the Law on Labor Relations, I would like to inform you that the adopted text does not contain the contested provision by the Constitutional Court, which stipulated that the working hours of each employee may be an average of 60 hours per week during the year. I said that I will not sign a law that contains a provision contested by the Constitutional Court, and in that direction there is no such provision in the amendments to the law,” Pendarovski pointed out.
The first one is a law to amend the Law on Labor Relations, then the Law on Expropriation, the Law on Building, the Law on Urban Planning and the Law on determining the public interest and nominating a strategic partner for the construction of the corridors.
