NDI research: Macedonians are pessimistic because of high prices, low salaries and pensions, would support parties with a plan for a better economy

According to the results of a public opinion survey published by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) ‘North Macedonia; Citizen’s Perception of the General Situation, Economic Policies and Consumer Protection’ on Tuesday, the three biggest problems citizens in North Macedonia face the standard of living, low salaries and pensions, and crime and corruption, as well as the inflation and increase in prices.

Respondents are pessimistic about the future, almost 40 percent believe that the economic situation, the standard of living and the amount of wages and pensions will worsen in the next 12 months. Seven out of 10 respondents (71 percent) support the parties that have a defined plan for improving the economic situation.
