A 27-year-old woman from the village of Kuchica in Karbinci municipality has died of Crimean–Congo hemorrhagic fever caused by a tick bite, the Public Health Institute (PHI) has confirmed.
The woman was admitted in the Shtip Clinical Hospital last week but was later transferred to the Skopje-based Clinic for Infectious Diseases after her condition worsened. The PHI says an inspection was conducted in the village of Kuchica, the Shtip hospital and the Shtip Emergency Room.
Considering that the disease is also transmitted through blood from an infected person, all contacts in the family, the hospital and the emergency room were interviewed and classified according to risk.
