DUI and SDS unanimously changed the streets in 2021 in the Council of the City of Skopje. Without any debate, without consultation of the citizens, almost 500 streets and bridges and other facilities in the capital were forcibly renamed 2 years ago in the Skopje city council, said VMRO-DPMNE in a press release on Saturday.
“Do the incompetents from the SDS government know whose capital is Skopje, is it Macedonia or some other country?
Yesterday in Skopje, without any Macedonian symbols and with great pomp and in the presence of a prime minister from another country, the street was renamed Second Macedonian Strike Brigade in the name of Kosovo fighter Adem Demachi.
The street is named after Demachi, who has no contact points either with the history of Macedonia or with Skopje, but had nationalist ideals connected to other countries.
Hence, we ask if the SDS councilors knew what they were voting for in 2021 in the Council?”, reads the opposition party’s press release.
