We want to see Macedonian in the EU. We are the most enthusiastic supporters of having you, who are already part of the transatlantic community, to be formal members of every part of that community and that includes the European Union, said the U.S. Department of State’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs and Special Representative to the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar at a press conference Friday.
“The United States does not choose governments for NATO countries, but we do set expectations and the one thing that I will talk about will be to provide the same message that I’ve been giving around the region, that the United States sees as natural partners those that are committed to European integration, committed to NATO, and committed to the fight against corruption. And I want to make that part clear,” said Escobar.
