The first glider of Macedonian aviation named “Ilindenka” is on display at the Stenkovec recreational airfield, which hosts an air show on occaion of the 100th anniversary of Macedonian aviation, namely the establishment of Aeroclub-Skopje in 1923.
“Ilindenka” was produced in the “20 May” plant in Skopje and made its first flight in 1955. It also took part at the world gliding championships in Poland in 1958 as part of the former Yugoslavia team.
The Ministry of Defense of Serbia handed over Ilindenka to the organizers of the event, and the Serbian authorities say this is another proof of the friendship between Macedonia and Serbia.
