A two-year-old child from Resen, initially hospitalized in Bitola and then transferred to Skopje, died at the Children’s Clinic after testing positive to COVID-19.

The death occurred in the Emergency Center of the Clinic for Children’s Diseases, and the child was admitted as an emergency from Bitola and intubated.

According to the Director of the Clinic, Dr. Stojka Natseva Fushtikj, COVID-19 is not the cause of the death, although the rapid test was positive for the child and negative for the mother.

“The child has no medical history with us because the family lives in Germany. From the data we received, there are serious previously diagnosed conditions, pulmonary hypertension, tracheomalacia, operated heart defect VSD, lag in motor development. Covid is certainly not the cause of the bad outcome. The rapid COVID test was positive for the child and negative for the mother,” said doctor Fushtikj.
