The leader of the Democratic Union party Pavle Trajanov submitted Tuesday to the Constitutional Court an initiative to review the constitutionality of the latest amendments to the Criminal Code, which reduce the penalties for abuse of office and criminal association and provide for the decriminalization of the crime related to public procurement of damage to the state.
The initiative points to the obligation that constitutional provisions for the rule of law and laws apply equally to everyone, as well as the need to protect state property from abuses by public office holders.
At the same time, it is expected that the Constitutional Court ex officio will adopt a temporary measure to postpone the application of the changes in the Criminal Code until a final decision on the Initiative is made.
