Macedonian Defense Minister SlavjankaPetrovska said Tuesday that the three recently expelled Russian diplomats worked contrary to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and tried to, or wanted to, meddle in the country’s strategic interests.
Replying to a media question in a press conference on Tuesday with her Slovenian counterpart MarjanŠarec, Petrovska said that the country’s strategic goal is NATO and EU membership, and that anyone who tries to obstruct that cannot be considered a friend of the country.
“The latest expulsion decision refers to individuals who weren’t working in line with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, and tried or wanted to meddle a bit more in the strategic interests of our country. Our path, the country’s path is very clear and on many occasions we’ve said that our strategic goal is NATO and EU membership, and we can’t consider anyone who tries to obstruct that path a friend, especially not if they want to do that by meddling in the work of the institutions or any other entity in our country,” said the Minister.
