The National Bank published the data from the field of payment statistics for the second quarter of 2023. The data show that even in the second quarter of 2023 there is a growth trend in the use of digital channels for making payments in the country, especially by citizens, both on payment cards and on mobile applications for electronic initiation of credit transfers, the so-called payment orders.
The annual growth of the use of payment cards issued in the country for cash transactions and for payment of products and services in the country by citizens in the second quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year, is 13.9% in the number, with a solid growth of 12.5% in the value of these transactions. At the same time, a significant annual growth of 16.6% was observed in the use of cards for payment of products and services in the country, with a strong growth in payments at physical points of sale of 17.0%, but also a high growth of 11.9% in payments at virtual (internet) points of sale.
