Not a single penalty has been paid by the state to the Bechtel-Enka consortium for the construction of the sections of Corridors 8 and 10D, claims the First Deputy Prime Minister and coordinator for the construction of Corridors 8 and 10d Artan Grubi.

Grubi was replying to a question by VMRO-DPMNE MP Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova regarding calls for employment in the Bechtel-Enka consortium, which according to the MP is acting as a manager and spokesperson of a private company with taxpayers’ money.

“If I’m not mistaken, in three VMRO-DPMNE governments from 2006 to 2017, with every foreign investment, the then prime minister, finance minister or anyone else, said that 1,000 new jobs were being created and called on citizens to get employed in those companies, in the industrial, economic zones. Nothing is different with this project, which is financed by the state and which enables more than 2,000 jobs for our citizens to be employed,” Grubi said.
