Shtip named European City of Sport for 2024

Shtip has been named the European City of Sport for 2024 in competition with cities of 25,000-500,000 inhabitants, Shtip Mayor Ivan Jordanov informed on Friday.

The mayor added that at the gala awards ceremony in the European Parliament in Brussels, they received the award and recognition, which represents an excellent opportunity for even greater development of sports, sports clubs and sports infrastructure in the city.

In that context, he announced that in the first half of 2024, in the city with almost 50,000 inhabitants, the construction of a sports center with a capacity of up to 1,000 visitors will begin, the Stip city stadium will be completed and completely reconstructed with two modern tribunes and an athletic track.

Jordanov also announced the completion of the indoor swimming pool, which has been at a standstill for a long time, as well as the hall for martial arts, for which this city in the eastern part of the country is known.
