The initial assessment of the Committee established within the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics in Skopje (GAK) is that there is no professional error in the case of the newborn with an injured arm. The committee was formed after the media disclosed the case of the newborn who was born with an injured hand at the GAK.
The Skopje 1mk news website reported that after giving birth on December 30, the mother and her husband were not allowed to see their baby. After much insistence, the mother briefly saw the newborn, and later she and the father learned, as they say, that the baby had a broken arm.
The Gynecology Clinic’s director, Viktorija Jovanovska, confirmed on Tuesday that the baby had an injury to the hand that occurred at the time of delivery. Jovanovska says the newborn is now in stable condition and has suffered mild paresis, which she says usually resolves within 48 hours.
