Opposition VMRO-DPMNE says that it is good that wages are growing and the party welcomes that, but their growth is currently too slow compared to the enormously increased cost of living. The largest opposition party points out that SDSM’s boasting for increasing wages is completely absent and lost in space and time.

“Let’s not forget that it was this government that increased the VAT on a huge number of products. In addition to this, if one adds double-digit inflation, one would get that with the increase in wages, there won’t be enough to buy even salt and sugar,” said the opposition party.

VMRO-DPMNE adds that the value of the Union’s minimum basket for the survival of a 4-member family for October 2023 is MKD 46,198, and SDSM “boasts of a minimum wage of MKD 22,500, which is half of the real costs of living.”

“In the period between 2017 and 2023, GDP growth per capita in Macedonia was only 20%, while in all other countries of the region it was 50%,” said VMRO-DPMNE.
