Six thousand citizens in Macedonia live in poverty, 80,000 of them live in absolute poverty with 80 denars a day, says Ivica Tomovski, member of the VMRO-DPMNE Central Committee.

Tomovski emphasizes that with SDS and DUI, literally one in three citizens is poor.

“The Government does nothing to systematically solve this issue. Pensioners are one of the most affected categories. Numbers show that 96,000 pensioners receive pensions of up to 13,300 MKD, 60,000 pensioners from 13,300 to 16,000 MKD, and 86,000 pensioners from 16,000 to 22,000 MKD. All these three categories, and especially the first and second, which include 156,000 pensioners, barely make ends meet. In a large number of cases, these are people who need medication, which further throws them in misery,” said Tomovski.
